HC Deb 26 March 1963 vol 674 cc136-7W
Mrs. Butler

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many of the additional 14,764 civil servants for whom provision is made in this year's Estimates are to be employed in offices in London.

Mr. Barber

Only about one in five will be employed in London, including some in local offices in the area. All Headquarters work in London, including that for which additional staff has been agreed, is being reviewed by Sir Gilbert Flemming to advise the Government on how much can be moved elsewhere.
