HC Deb 25 March 1963 vol 674 c117W
49. Mr. R. Edwards

asked the Lord Privy Seal what representation was made by the British Embassy in Spain on behalf of Gordon Jameson, a British subject, who was beaten by the Spanish police and imprisoned for two-and-a-half years.

Mr. Heath

No representations were made by the Embassy. Repeated efforts were however made by the Consular Officers at Valencia and Barcelona to have Mr. Jameson and his companion brought to trial as quickly as possible. In the course of their visits no complaint of beatings or ill-treatment was received from Mr. Jameson.
