asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance if he will state the average daily number of insured persons in recept of sickness benefit in the last twelve-month period for which figures are available, and the percentage of the working population that the figure represents.

It is estimated that the average daily number of insured persons in receipt of sickness benefit in 1962 was about 850,000. This represented about 4 per cent. of the numbers insured for sickness benefit.
