8. Mr. Farr

asked the Minister of Health what is the average length of time for which a subnormal or severely subnormal child has to await admission to hospital in the Sheffield hospital region.

Mr. Braine

55 per cent. of admissions are within one year and 70 per cent. within two.

asked the Minister of Health what steps he is taking to reduce the numbers of subnormal and severely subnormal children awaiting admission to hospital in the Sheffield hospital region.

About 200 additional beds are being brought into use now. Further provision is included in the schemes outlined in Command Paper 1604.
