HC Deb 25 March 1963 vol 674 c120W
64. Mr. Driberg

asked the Secretary of State for War what action he is taking to assist guardsmen and their wives, living in married quarters at Pirbright, who are required to pay electricity and gas bills far higher than they can afford.

Mr. Profumo

As has already been announced, soldiers occupying new married quarters at Pirbright who are unable to pay their winter gas and electricity bills without suffering hardship may obtain assistance by applying to their unit to have their bills paid by the War Department. The amount so paid will be recovered from the soldier over the six months from April to September.
