HC Deb 25 March 1963 vol 674 c123W
Mr. Warbey

asked the Postmaster-General what would be the estimated increase in Post Office revenue if the charge for residence local calls, other than subscribers' trunk dialling calls, were increased from 2½d. to 3d.

Mr. Bevins

About £1 million.

Mr. Warbey

asked the Postmaster-General what is the maximum distance over which it is now possible to make a subscribers' trunk dialling 2d. local call; and between which two points.

Mr. Bevins

The distance varies in different parts of the country, and I regret that the information asked for is not available centrally. The average radius of a local call area is 17 miles.
