§ Mr. G. M. Thomsonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what action he is taking to draw the attention of local education authorities to experiments in the introduction of French, mathematics, and science into the primary school at present being carried out in Glasgow and elsewhere.
§ Mr. NobleMy Department is closely in touch with these and other experiments, which I greatly welcome, and steps are regularly taken through the work of the Inpectorate of Schools, meetings of Directors of Education, and the circulation of106W memoranda to keep authorities informed of developments of this kind. Fresh general guidance on the primary curriculum as a whole, which will take account of this experimental work, is in preparation at present through a representative committee appointed last year.
