§ Mr. BevinsOn the 31st December last there were 1,100,000 shared telephones. During the past five years the number has been reduced by 100,000, and the cable system is being progressively expanded, but I cannot say when it will be possible to relax the condition under which residential subscribers have to share their lines when necessary.
