Mr. Dempsey

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will detail each major and minor educational project he has approved for Coatbridge and Airdrie during the next five years; what will be the estimated cost of each project; and what will be the respective starting dates.

Mr. Noble

I have approved the following proposals for Coatbridge and Airdrie in the education authority's current programme which covers the period only until 1965–66:

  1. (a) plans for Kirkshaws Roman Catholic Primary School, a new school estimated to cost £160,000 and to start in April 1965,
  2. (b) plans for the extension and reconstruction of St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Secondary School estimated to cost £125,000 and to start in May 1965,
  3. (c) accommodation proposals for St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Primary School, a new school estimated to cost £160,000 and to start in April 1964.

  5. (d) accommodation proposals for the reconstruction and extension of St. Patrick's High School, estimated to cost £500,000 and to start in May. 1964.
