§ Mr. N. MacphersonFigures are compiled on a monthly basis. During January slightly over £8 million was paid in unemployment benefit, and payments of National Assistance at employment exchanges were about £3¼ million. The corresponding figure for February are £9¼ million and £3½ million. The figures do not distinguish payments to workers on short time.
