Mrs. Braddockasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer on which dates in 1962 the Pool Promoters Association gave information to the Treasury regarding the possibility of further reduction of staff in the pools industry on Merseyside unless steps were taken regarding betting taxation; what reply he gave; and what action was taken.
§ Mr. du CannDeputations from the Association were received by Treasury Ministers on 16th March, 1962, and 11th December, 1962, when this question, among others, was raised. Treasury Ministers agreed to consider the various possibilities of taxation of betting and gaming, but the hon. Member will not expect me to anticipate my right hon. Friend's Budget.
