LORD STONHAM

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will state for the last year for which the information is available, the total estimated value of the food grown by prisoners, which was consumed by prisoners, including those detained in borstals or detention centres, and to state how much of this total sum was produced respectively at Her Majesty's Prisons at Pentonville, Wandsworth and Strangeways.

THE MARQUESS OF LOTHIAN

The total value of produce grown and consumed by inmates during the financial year ending 31st March, 1962, was about £101,000, of which produce to the value of about £1,357 was grown at a farm worked by prisoners from Pentonville prison. None was grown at Wandsworth or Strangeways.
