Jannerasked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance if he will introduce legislation to help those people whose right to unemployment benefit has run out and who are in receipt only of National Assistance, in view of the facts that the increase in the latter does not come into effect until 27th May and that unemployment benefit will be increased on 7th March.
§ Mr. N. MacphersonNo. Assistance rates were increased less than six months ago, and the people to whom the Question refers will receive the further Assistance increases at the same time as the great majority of other Assistance recipients.
