HC Deb 04 March 1963 vol 673 c10W
Sir J. Langford-Holt

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will modify the Warble Fly Order so as to allow farmers to use the new systemic insecticides under the Warble Fly (Dressing of Cattle) Order, 1948, in view of the results obtained with these insecticides.

Mr. Scott-Hopkins

The Warble Fly (Dressing of Cattle) Order, 1948, and its amending Order of 1960, do not prohibit the use of systemic insecticides. These new insecticides are very effective, when properly applied. But it is impracticable to include them in the Orders as alternatives to derris, because it is not possible to prove whether or not they have been used.
