HC Deb 04 March 1963 vol 673 c3W
32. Mr. Warbey

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance if he will make arrangements for persons who suffer loss of earnings through attending for dental treatment during working hours to receive part compensation in the form of sickness benefit.

Mrs. Thatcher

No. It has never been thought right that the National Insurance Act should provide sickness benefit for isolated days of incapacity, let alone part of a day.
