Mr. Lagden

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many applications were made during the last year for which figures are available for the issue of licences to conduct experiments under the Cruelty to Animals Act, 1876; and how many of these applications were refused.

During 1962, 1,407 licences were granted. No formal application reaching the Home Office was refused.
