§ Mr. Abseasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what are the reasons for the delay in the publication of the booklet recommended by the Streatfeild Committee to be made available to sentencers; and when the book will now be published.
§ Mr. BrookeIt would have been premature to publish this booklet before the main provisions of the Criminal Justice Act, 1961, had been brought into effect. These provisions will come into operation on 1st August, and I hope to publish the booklet later this year.
