Whether they will do something to improve the delivery to Aberdeen of London mail, the bulk of which is at present not received until second delivery, thereby making it extremely difficult for a business reply to be sent off the same day.
§ LORD CHESHAMThe postal service between London and Aberdeen was improved when the night airmail service between London and Edinburgh was introduced in November, 1961, inasmuch as correspondence posted in London between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. now gets second delivery next day. To improve the service still further to give first delivery next day would require a new air connection between Glasgow or Edinburgh and Aberdeen: my right honourable friend is inquiring about the prospects of such a connection and the cost of using it for mails should it be provided. He will let the noble Lord know the outcome as soon as possible.
