§ Mr. John Hallasked the Minister of Transport what he has decided about the future of Marlow Bridge.
§ Mr. MarplesI am glad to say that the County Councils of Buckinghamshire and Berkshire, as highway authorities, have accepted my comprehensive proposals for the construction of a by-pass of Marlow, including a new bridge, and for the repair of the present bridge. The by-pass will be included in my programme of classified road schemes for the period 1965–68. The old bridge will be repaired on lines agreed between the county councils and my Department so as to be safe for vehicles weighing up to five tons. I understand that tenders will be invited within the next few months.
