§ 120. Mr. Straussasked the Minister of Public Building and Works whether he will take steps to ascertain to what extent public opinion would support the continuation of the floodlighting of various London buildings during the winter months.
§ Mr. RipponIn view of the representations made to me I have decided to flood light the following buildings in Central London during the winter:
- Trafalgar Square—Nelson's Column.
- National Gallery.
- Admiralty Arch.
- Houses of Parliament—Clock Tower.
- Somerset House.
- Carlton House Terrace.
The total cost of floodlighting these six buildings from November to March inclusive will be about £7,500.
