§ Mr. Ellis Smithasked the Minister of Labour if he is aware that silicosis and dust of all kinds cause more deaths and suffering than any other occupational disease, and that 93 per cent. of all deaths due to occupational diseases can be traced to silicosis; and what action is to be taken to reduce the danger of this disease.
§ Mr. HareDust diseases are responsible for the great majority of deaths from disease of occupational origin. Current mortality figures, however, reflect working conditions in past years. I am confident that the measures now taken to reduce exposure to dust in industries where this is a hazard will result in a steady improvement in the position.
