HC Deb 26 July 1963 vol 681 c240W
Mr. Delargy

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will introduce legislation to give effect to the recommendations of the Wilson Report on Noise.

Mr. Marples

I have recently circulated in draft, for comment by the organisations concerned, regulations laying down maximum permissible noise levels for motor vehicles. Most of the other recommendations of the Wilson Committee which relate to my responsibilities do not call for the introduction of legislation. Certain of the recommendations for legislation for the control of noise from industry and building operations would affect nationalised transport undertakings, particularly the railways. I shall seek the views of the undertakings concerned on these recommendations.
