HC Deb 24 July 1963 vol 681 c182W
89. Mr. B. Harrison

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many persons in Essex have received assistance under the Small Farmers Scheme each year since its inauguration; and what is the total amount of Exchequer funds paid out under this heading to farmers in the county.

Mr. Scott-Hopkins

Excluding withdrawals, the number of Essex farmers admitted to the Small Farmer Scheme during the financial years 1959–60, 1960–61, 1961–62 and 1962–63 were 152, 39, 7 and 38 respectively. These 236 schemes would attract grants totalling £137,000, of which £98,000 had been paid up to 30th June this year.
