§ 50. Mr. Mappasked the Minister of Transport why he approved the road conveyance of a 35-ton propeller involving 19 feet by 65 feet of road space from Birkenhead to Falmouth early this month; and why he did not require this and a similar return load to be conveyed by water.
§ Mr. MarplesAuthority was given for the movement of a propeller by road from Birkenhead to Falmouth because it was required urgently as a replacement for a ship in service. In view of the difficulties which arose, I am reviewing the best means of dealing with future applications of this nature. An application to move a damaged propeller from the ship to Birkenhead by road was refused.
