HC Deb 24 July 1963 vol 681 c196W
Mr. Hannan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many hospitals have a dental unit for the treatment of their in-patients; and what progress has been made in this matter following the reply of one of his predecessors on 30th June, 1953.

Mr. Noble

Almost all hospital authorities employ dentists or have made arrangements to obtain the part-time services of dentists otherwise engaged in the general dental service.

Mr. Hannan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will consult the regional hospital boards and the dental profession with a view to making available where they exist, dental facilities in hospitals for those requiring emergency treatment at night or during holiday periods.

Mr. Noble

No. I should not feel justified in imposing this additional responsibility on the hospital service.
