HC Deb 23 July 1963 vol 681 c156W
60. Mr. Stonehouse

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what steps are being taken to provide technical training in the Seychelles, in view of the rapidly expanding employable population; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Sandys

The Education Department runs a woodwork class. The Public Works Department gives opportunities for modern school leavers to learn motor vehicle repair, carpentry and masonry, and those showing aptitude can take trade tests to become artisans after five years. It has not so far proved possible to do more within the resources available, but there are plans to expand technical training in the next development period.
