HC Deb 23 July 1963 vol 681 cc157-8W
67. Mr. Parkin

asked the Minister of Labour if he is aware that arrangements are being made to close the Napier factory at Raynes Park within the next 18 months and disperse the work else where; and what steps he will take to find similar employment for those displaced.

Mr. Hare

I understand that this factory is to be taken over by a member of the Lucas Group next month. I have seen reports that it is to close but my local officers have not been informed officially of this. Should this factory close, however, my officers would do everything in their power to place in other suitable employment any redundant employees who sought their help.
