HC Deb 23 July 1963 vol 681 cc149-50W
49. Mr. Albu

asked the Parliamentary Secretary for Science what support is being given by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research for research into the use of computers as aids for economic planning.

will define the scope of research projects being undertaken in Wales; and what financial assistance is being made available in the furtherance of these projects.

Mr. Denzil Freeth

The Agricultural and Medical Research Councils and the Nature Conservancy maintain research laboratories and units in Wales. Together with the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research they also support research in Welsh universities and Colleges of Advanced Technology. I am circulating the figures of this support in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

I am informed that the Ministries of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Aviation, the War Office and the General Post Office also maintain research establishments in the Principality.

Mr. Denzill Freeth

None. The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research gives support to research in economics only where this is specifically related to its own activities.
