asked the Minister of Labour if he has received the report on the work of the research unit set up by him to study future needs for skilled manpower; and if he will make a statement.

An inquiry has been started which is designed to build up a general picture of occupational trends and future requirements for skilled labour in the metal manufacturing and metal using industries. For this purpose an extensive sample of large firms in this major sector of the economy are being asked to supply

In addition to the above there were nine boys and nine girls under 18 years of age registered as unemployed at the Bexhill Youth Employment Office, which also covers the Rye, Hailsham and Battle areas; of these one girl had been unemployed since leaving school at Easter, 1963.
