Mr. Mappasked the Attorney-General if he is aware that the limit of £50 established by the Bankruptcy Act, 1869, in respect of administration orders no longer achieves the purpose of the Act; and when he proposes legislation to revise the figure to modern values, in order to assist family welfare workers.
§ The Attorney-GeneralI am aware that the limitation on the power of the county courts to make administration orders has greatly reduced the usefulness of this procedure in recent years. My noble Friend the Lord Chancellor recognises the desirability of raising the present figure of £50, but I cannot hold out any hope of the Government introducing legislation in the near future.
