HC Deb 22 July 1963 vol 681 c135W
62. Mr. J. Wells

asked the Minister of Education what changes in art college courses and administration are envisaged in the South-East of England after September, 1963; and what arrangements he is making for students whose courses there are being discontinued or moved to places remote from their homes.

Sir E. Boyle

No change in the administration of art colleges is envisaged. This will remain the responsibility of local education authorities. Certain colleges and schools in the South East have been approved for the new Diploma in Art and Design to start in 1963. Others may be approved for 1964 and subsequently.

Students who secure places on Diploma in Art and Design courses and who hold the necessary educational qualifications will receive automatic awards similar to those made to university students.
