HC Deb 18 July 1963 vol 681 cc75-6W
31. Mr. MacDermot

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs what action has been proposed by the Alkali Inspectorate to Denby Metals Limited to abate the nuisance by low-level emission of fumes from their metal foundry in Great Northern Road, Derby; and when some improvement may be expected.

Mr. Corfield

At the instance of the Inspectorate improved hooding is being fitted to all seven furnaces. One furnace has already been so fitted and another is scheduled to be fitted by the end of the month. More hoods are being manufactured and a progressive improvement may be expected as they are fitted.
