asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is satisfied that the Inland Revenue authorities have sufficient powers to arrive at accurate assessments of Estate Duty; and in what circumstances he orders fresh investigations.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

Yes. The Inland Revenue make inquiries in any case where they have reason to suppose that the amounts returned are insufficient, or that there has been any concealment of property.
