Mr. Arbuthnot

asked the Minister of Transport whether the Anglo-French Official Group set up in November 1961 to examine the Channel Tunnel Study Group's proposals for a channel tunnel and those of the Channel Bridge Study Group for a channel bridge have finished their study of these two projects; what aspects are covered by the study; and whether he has received a report from the official group.

The Anglo-French Official Group have completed their study of the proposals put forward by the Channel Tunnel Study Group and the Channel Bridge Study Group. Their examination has covered the technical, legal, economic and financial aspects of these two projects. The report of the Official Group has now been submitted to the French Minister of Transport and myself for consideration by the two Governments.
