HC Deb 17 July 1963 vol 681 c53W
Mr. W. Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the total sum currently being spent by his Department on the anti-smoking campaign; and what proposals he has in mind to increase the effectiveness of the campaign.

Mr. Noble

My Department plans to spend £7,000 in 1963–64, much of it on a pilot campaign to be launched in Dunfermline later this year on lines advised by the Scottish Committee on Smoking and Health. My officers are also in touch with consultants in charge of chest clinics about the best ways of helping their patients to stop smoking.
