asked the Minister of Education what was the total of capital expenditure on schools and other institutions falling within the education vote in Lowestoft during each of the last five years; how many additional children are at school; and what plans he has accepted for the future building programme.

Expenditure on major educational building work in Lowestoft during the last five financial years has been as follows:

During the same period the maintained school population has decreased by about 500. Two major schools projects totalling £116,000 have been authorised to start in 1963–64 and 1964–65 and work costing over £300,000 will continue on a project started last year.
