asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what investigation he is currently undertaking into the possibilities of maintaining and increasing lobster stocks by setting up lobster hatcheries.

Mr. Brooman-White

Experiments undertaken in other countries suggests that lobster hatcheries would not succeed in rearing a worthwhile proportion of the larvæ to marketable sized lobsters. We will continue to watch the position.
