HC Deb 17 July 1963 vol 681 cc70-1W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Minister of Power what is the normal moisture content of one ton of coke, Sunbrite, and Phurnacite delivered during dry summer months, compared with winter deliveries from uncovered stocks; and what information he has on the equivalent figures for household coal.

Mr. Wood

I am afraid this information is not available. There is a problem of sampling, which I understand the British Standards Institution is investigating as part of its study of the wider problem of introducing a standard for moisture in coke deliveries.

Mr. Skeet

asked the Minister of Power if he will refer to the Domestic Coal Consumers' Council the problem of the moisture content of domestic solid fuels.

Mr. Wood

The Council has continued to examine this matter. Its latest comment is in the Special Report which my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Secretary referred to in his reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Hertfordshire, South-West (Mr. Longden) on 13th March. Copies of the Report were placed in the Library.
