OSWALD)The published estimate of expenditure under the cattle guarantee for the financial year 1963–64 is £36.94 million for the United Kingdom. Since deficiency payments depend on the course of market prices and supplies over the year as a whole and about nine months still have to run, it is too early to speculate on how the cost will actually turn out.
