47. Mr. Hilton

asked the Minister of Transport if he will state his immediate proposals for improving trunk road A.47 through Swaffham, Norfolk; and what are his long-term proposals for by-passing this town.

Mr. Galbraith

My right hon. Friend has asked Norfolk County Council as his agent authority to prepare a scheme for the road's improvement in Swaffham.

For the long-term, he is prepared to recommend the inclusion of a by-pass of Swaffham in the development plan at the next Quinquennial Review.
