HC Deb 16 July 1963 vol 681 c29W
54. Mr. John Hall

asked the Postmaster-General if, in view of the overall increase in the number of outstanding applications for telephones in the Oxford and Reading telephone areas and the rapidly increasing population in those areas, he will give greater priority to the development plan for the areas.

59. Sir A. Hurd

asked the Postmaster-General if he has now been able to allocate additional money and resources to satisfy in the coming year the demand for telephones in the Reading area.

Mr. Bevins

I have increased the moneys for local lines and subscribers' circuits in the Oxford and Reading areas by 20 per cent. and 16 per cent., respectively. These are the maximum increases that can be absorbed efficiently in these areas this year.
