§ 83. Mr. Awberyasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will publish a White Paper on the activities of Messrs. Baileys (Malta) Limited for the period that they occupied and operated the dockyard, showing what modernisation took place, whether employment on the island was maintained and other relevant matters, and setting out the circumstances leading up to the inquiry by Mr. J. R. Muirie in April, 1962, and the setting up of the council of administration.
§ Mr. SandysThe circumstances of Mr. Muirie's inquiry and the appointment of the Council of Administration were given in my statement on 14th February. I am not prepared to publish a White Paper on the other matters in view of the legal actions pending between the Government and the company.
