§ Mr. Brockwayasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will make a further statement on the situation in Swaziland which has required the intervention of British troops.
§ Mr. FisherSince my right hon. Friend reported to the House on 18th June the situation has remained calm and the two main industries affected by the strike are back to normal. The only function of the British troops has been to help the police maintain law and order. I am glad to say that there were no clashes between the troops and any section of the population. In clashes between the police and strikers, very few people were injured and no serious damage to property occurred.
