HL Deb 04 July 1963 vol 251 c1086WA
LORD BARNBY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

With regard to the operations of the Coal Board and the announced profit for 1962, whether they will state the tons of coal sold respectively in the last three years and the average price per ton applicable.

THE MINISTER OF STATE, BOARD OF TRADE (LORD DERWENT)

I regret that the precise information asked for in the Question is not available, but the saleable tonnage produced by the National Coal Board and the corresponding proceeds per ton were as follows:

1960 1961 1962
Saleable tonnage (million tons) 191.2 188.0 194.8
s. d. s. d. s. d.
Average proceeds per ton 85 8 90 6 91 6
The saleable tonnage is equal to the coal sold commercially and other disposals plus the increase (or minus the decrease) in colliery stocks.

House adjourned at seven minutes past seven o'clock.
