§ 40. Mr. McInnesasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what road construction will be necessitated by the development of Abbotsinch Airport; what is the estimated cost; and when construction is expected to start.
§ Mr. LeburnThere is reasonable access to Abbotsinch from trunk road A.8 and from classified routes through Paisley. The main improvement will come when the Renfrew bypass is built and my right hon. Friend intends shortly to seek powers to build it. A start to the westerly section might, I hope, be possible in about two years' time, but the Glasgow end cannot be started before flying stops at Renfrew. It is too early to give a close estimate of the cost of the bypass, but it will be about £4 million.
