HC Deb 01 July 1963 vol 680 cc20-1W
Mr. Kershaw

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that the double white line recently painted on the Inchbrook corner of the Stroud-Nails-worth road appears to make it legally impossible and practically dangerous for the inhabitants of Inchbrook to reach their houses from the Stroud road; and what steps he proposes to rectify this.

Mr. Marples

The Traffic Signs Regulations permit vehicles to cross the continuous prohibitory line in order to gain access to a side road or to premises flanking the road. It does not, of course, follow that it is always safe for them to do so.

In this case, it is in the interests of road safety that there should be no gaps in the double white lines on the Inchbrook corner.
