§ 82. Mr. Masonasked the First Secretary of State if he is aware of the concern of many Europeans, who are resident in Nyasaland and who have Federal citizenship, regarding their future when Nyasaland finally secedes from the Federation; and, in view of the large number of farmers and property owners who are worried about compensation, what consideration he has given to referring this matter to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council for a ruling.
§ Mr. BrookeAs my right hon. Friend is in Africa, I have been asked to reply.
I appreciate the concern of many Europeans who are resident in Nyasaland. The question of citizenship is one of the matters currently under consideration.
As regards the second part of the Question, there is no plan for the payment of compensation and consideration has not been given to referring the matter to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.
