§ 51. Mr. W. Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for War whether, in view of his recently announced policy concerning future recruitment to the Army, he will now take steps to release all married men currently serving or about to serve the additional six months of National Service.
§ Mr. ProfumoNo. The changes which I have recently made in recruitment policy are directed at the future all Regular Army: their effect in terms of trained soldiers will not be felt for some months. The national service men I have retained are already trained and are required to maintain the strength and effectiveness of the British Army of the Rhine during the period of change from the conscript Army to the all Regular Army.
