Notes
1. These averages have been derived from records of expenditures and quantities purchased by housewives co-operating in the National Food Survey. The data do not in the case of bread allow for variations over the years in the quantities purchased from multiple, co-operative and independent bakers and grocers, noir for changes in the proportions of sliced and non-sliced bread. In the case of flour, there may have been variations in the proportions of different kinds of flour, both branded and unbranded.
2. The proportion (by weight) of white loaves sold wrapped has increased since 1957 from just over one-half to approximately two-thirds.
House adjourned at six minutes past eight o'clock.
