HC Deb 29 January 1963 vol 670 cc179-80W
Mr. Wall

asked the Secretary of State for War how many serving officers of the rank of major-general and above have qualified at the Joint Services Staff College and the Imperial Defence College; and what percentage this is of the total number of officers in these ranks still serving.

Mr. Profumo

Sixty-three officers of the rank of major-general and above have qualified at the Imperial Defence College: this is 60 per cent. of the total number of serving officers of these ranks. Comparable figures for the Joint Services Staff College are 42 and 40 per cent.

This information excludes the R.A.M.C., R.A.D.C., R.A.E.C. and R.A.P.C. No serving officers of the rank of major-general and above from these Corps have qualified at the Imperial Defence College. Three major-generals and above, or 27 per cent. of the total number of serving officers of these ranks in these Corps, have qualified at the Joint Services Staff College.
